Augusta-Richmond County Public Library Resumes Sunday Hours May 1st

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Thursday, April 7th, 2016

Sunday hours at the Headquarters Library resume May 1, 2016.  ARCPLS plans to offer general library services, as well as an Open House once per month featuring movie screenings, classes on the benefits of being an ARCPLS PINES library card holder, demonstrations on how to become a “virtual patron” using website-only resources and information about the recently-restructured GLASS (talking books) program for the physically and visually impaired.

With nearly 30 years of experience in local libraries, newly-appointed Director Mashell Fashion expressed her opinion on the issue in a previous Library Board of Trustees meeting.  “We’re here to serve the public, and I would prefer to be open every day,” said Fashion. “Some of our citizens can only come to the library on Sundays.” Sunday hours of operation for the facility are set for 2:00 to 5:30 pm.
