Augusta Chamber’s “Third Thursday Business Builder” Addresses Changes to Retirement Rules

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Wednesday, June 29th, 2016

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is holding the second installment of its Third Thursday Business Builder on July 21st to address the new DOL ruling on retirement plan changes. The event will be held at the Chamber offices from 11:30-1:00 on the third Thursday of July (July 21st) and is designed to provide topical intelligence on key issues for businesses.

On April 6, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor issued its long-awaited, and highly controversial, final rule to address conflicts of interest in retirement advice.  While this rule was aimed at financial advisors who provide retirement plan services, the final rule will have a material impact on compliance obligations and costs for plan sponsors.

Please join us as we hear from Carolyn Hodge and Jerry Rogers from Georgia Bank & Trust on topics such as “What is a fiduciary?”; “How will the changes be implemented?”; “What are my new obligations?”; and other pertinent facets of the new rule.

The Third Thursday Business Builder is FREE for chamber members and $15 for non-members. Lunch is provided. Advanced registration is required at www.AugustaMetroChamber.com.
