Communication in the 21st century is easier than ever - but ensuring those connections are engaging and meaningful is the challenge. Beth Huggins, of Augusta University, will speak at the Augusta Chamber’s Women in Business Luncheon on communicating with purpose, engaging Millennials and crossing generational gaps to mentor effectively.

Before living in Augusta, Beth Huggins grew up in central Florida where most of her family still resides.  She attended Furman University in Greenville, SC, (BA in Psychology) and the University of Georgia (MEd in College Personnel in Higher Education).  She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Student Affairs.

In 2000, Beth joined Augusta State University, serving as instructor in the Learning Support Department.  She became Coordinator for the University’s Orientation courses, and finally, Director of First and Second Year Experiences - a position she has enjoyed for the past three years.

Beth provides academic programing for freshmen and sophomore students, including Convocation, Sophomore Declaration Day, Two Study Abroad courses (Costa Rica and Italy) and coordinating 40 sections of a seminar designed to encourage critical thinking and research skills.  In her 17 years at Augusta University, Beth has had the privilege of teaching nearly 2,000 students, many of whom are considered “millennials”.

Tickets for the luncheon are $30 for chamber members, $40 for non-members and are available at AugustaMetroChamber.com.
