Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Announces New Business Information Program as the Third Thursday Business Builder
Thursday, June 9th, 2016
The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the creation of a new monthly program, Third Thursday Business Builder. This event will be held at the Chamber offices from 11:30-1:00 on the third Thursday of every month and is designed to provide topical intelligence on key issues for business. Local industry experts will present relevant information on a variety of topics important to successful operations and growth such as regulatory issues, information technology, finances, talent development, vendor relations, media, sales and marketing as well as market positioning in regional growth areas such as cyber and healthcare.
This program was developed in response to a recent member survey that indicated these were topics of interest and that this type of educational seminar would be a valuable benefit for members. The complimentary program, free for members of the Chamber, will allow for companies to not only glean applicable information for better business operations, but also make meaningful connections with other businesses. The companies that provide the information will sponsor the monthly event and provide lunch for the attendees, at no cost to participating members.
The first seminar of the series will occur on Thursday, June 16th. Hull Barrett Law Firm will present on the FLSA Overtime Rule Changes. The new FLSA changes involve more than just making sure employees receive overtime pay if their salary is less than $47,476. The change in the law will bring about greater scrutiny on businesses by the Wage and Hour Division and plaintiff’s lawyers in general, including how businesses classify their employees (exempt or nonexempt).
