Augusta Tech Foundation Receives $10,000 Gift to Establish New Scholarship Endowment

The Augusta Technical College Foundation is pleased to announce that Mrs. Brendalyn Diane Cook-Jackson has endowed a $10,000 scholarship in memory of her mother, Mrs. Annie Lee Henderson Cook of Bessemer, Alabama.
Mrs. Cook was employed by the U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons, retiring as a Unit Manager after 27 years of service. One of the highlights of her career was being selected to receive the Sustained Superior Performance Award, which was presented by to her by Attorney General, Robert F. Kennedy. She raised three children and was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint.
Mrs. Cook-Jackson works as the Transitional Coordinator in the Office of Adult Education at Augusta Technical College. She has a life-long passion for helping others succeed. Her mother shared this passion, particularly in the area of education. Stated Cook-Jackson, “The three most important things in life for my mother were: God, family, and education. I can think of no better way to honor Mom’s memory than assisting GED graduates in furthering their education."
“This gift is an example of extraordinary philanthropy from one of our own administrators. We are pleased that Mrs. Cook-Jackson chose to honor her mother’s memory in a way that both mother and daughter felt were purposeful and would benefit future students,” said Beverly Peltier, Director of Institutional Advancement at Augusta Technical College.
The endowment will be named the Annie L. Henderson Cook Adult Education Graduate Scholarship. Interest earned from the scholarship endowment corpus will be awarded to an Adult Education graduate of Augusta Technical College who wants to pursue his or her education in one of the many programs that Augusta Technical College offers.
