Author Jeff Blake Begins Book Tour in Augusta
Wednesday, June 1st, 2016
Former Goodwill executive Jeff Blake will hold a signing and reception for his latest book, Homestretch: This Journey on Grace Street, at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Hire Grounds Café, 3179 Washington Road at Fury’s Ferry Road. Admission is free and the public is invited.
The visit to Hire Grounds represents a reunion for Blake and James K. Stiff, President of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. In 1996, during Goodwill’s expansion to the Augusta area, Stiff recruited Blake from the Kentucky Goodwill as Goodwill’s first community director. For five years, Blake established and grew Goodwill’s local mission to eliminate poverty through job training and career education, and the two men have remained friends since Blake’s retirement.
Stiff’s wife, Meredith Stiff, wrote the Foreword for the book, coordinated the book-signing and will accompany Blake for the signing and reception.
Homestretch is Blake’s third book in a series exploring the topic of God’s grace, following Traveling on Grace Street and More Travels on Grace Street. His books offer inspiration and encouragement with a welcoming attitude to those seeking grace, including people of various faith traditions.
The book is dedicated to Augustan Greg Kirby, a mentor to Blake who will join in the conversation at Hire Grounds Café. Kirby travels North America as a life and business coach.
This event is free of charge to the community. Copies of Blake’s books will be on sale, with the author donating proceeds to benefit the mission of Goodwill.
