The “No Golf Challenge”

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Friday, June 17th, 2016

The world’s first charity No Golf Challenge benefitting The Salvation Army was launched online at www.nogolf.org.  This online video challenge is expected to set social media on fire. See our video on the www.nogolf.org web site.

Remember playing the game H-O-R-S-E on the basketball court? You take a shot and if you made it, your opponent would have to take the exact same shot from the same spot. It’s the same basic concept, except social media as our court.

You video of your swing or shot; golf, basketball or any other sport, you can even combine sports, just use your imagination and make it challenging. Then challenge your friends to match it. Either do it or donate at www.nogolf.org.

No golf club? No Problem, use a hockey stick, pool cue, baseball bat or a shovel. You don’t have a golf ball? No Problem, use an egg, ping-pong ball, tomato, basketball or eggplant, most of all use your imagination. It’s not about the golf; it’s about the challenge – any creative sports challenge that will drive your friends crazy trying to match it and invite others on social media to join in. If you don’t do a video, share mine on your social media to support of The Salvation Army.

The No Golf Challenge idea is original and unique. There were some “No Dinner Banquets” that was trendy a few years ago as fundraisers, but there has never been a No Golf Challenge before.

The concept was created and developed in the greatest golf town in the world – Augusta, Georgia by John Sebby, The Salvation Army’s Director of Development in the Augusta Area Command and Kroc Center. The No Golf website was designed and donated by Southfire. Southfire creates custom websites that balance the best of form, function and the overall user experience. Southfire websites are built from the ground up to rank fast and outperform your competitors. Southfire’s web development team designs and creates custom applications to turn ordinary into amazing.

No experience necessary, although craziness and a sense of humor helps, as you challenge friends, family and coworkers in your own original video. The best videos will be featured on our website; www.nogolf.org. You can challenge your friends on facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, Instagram, Pinterest, email, phone, or even in person.

Best of all every donation will help The Salvation Army provide help and hope to those in need. Every day The Salvation Army battles against poverty, hunger, addiction and homelessness. When you support The Salvation Army, your gift will be grounded in our reputation, trust and credibility. From natural disasters to personal disasters, we have been there to lend our hearts and our hands to those who have been brought to their knees.

Have fun. Be safe. Be challenged. The No Golf Challenge – Dare: Do It or Donate.
