Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Thursday, June 16th, 2016

The Technology Association of Georgia, Hub Magazine's Bytes, and TAG Greater Augusta announced a partnership with the Golden Harvest Food Bank as part of a state wide food and fund drive that will challenge local technology companies to benefit their local food bank. The competition is part of TAG’s Day of Service initiative with the Georgia Food Bank Association.

“With the poverty rate at 21.7% in the city of Augusta, I could not pass up the opportunity to do something tangible to meet the needs of individuals that may not have any other resource available,” said Tonia Gibbons, Community Outreach Director, Mayor’s Office of Augusta.

Bytes for Bites is a statewide food and fund drive competition whereby tech companies raise resources for regional food banks. The prestigious TAG B4B Cup will be awarded to the company that raises the most food and funds per employee. A TAG Chapter award will be given to the chapter that raises the most pounds per person.

“It never ceases to amaze me what greatness can come from a group of individuals who are passionate about a cause.  I’m so grateful for TAG and those in our technological fields who are stepping up to help the hungry,” said Travis McNeal, Executive Director, Golden Harvest Food Bank.
