Family YMCA of Greater Augusta, Additional Mobile Feeding Sites

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Friday, July 8th, 2016

The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta is adding one more mobile café site to the Summer Food Service Program in July. Snacks and meals also will be provided to all children 18 years old and younger, regardless of membership, at the Y’s summer camps.

“We’re dedicated to ensuring our youth can overcome the hunger gap during the summer months, as many children are unsure of where their next meal will come from,” says Danny McConnell, President/CEO of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta. “We want to help our youth grow into healthy adults.”

Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at the specific sites and times listed below at no cost, along with no registration or forms are required.

In addition to the snacks/meals provided to our summer camp sites, the YMCA has already launched six mobile cafes at the start of the summer and this additional location will make seven. Lunch will be provided at seven mobile café sites, which include:
