Shooting Event to Feed the Hungry, Serve Local Veterans

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, July 26th, 2016

S.H.A.R.P.E. Shooters invites gun enthusiasts of all ages and talents to compete in a competitive shooting event on Saturday, July 30th. Proceeds from the event will benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank and the Augusta Warrior Project.

A competitive shooting event tests a shooter on a variety of disciplines and courses of fire. Shooters can register as individuals, or in teams of two or four. Shooters will compete across four shooting disciplines—rim fire challenge, steel challenge, a practical shoot, and rifle challenge. The S.H.A.R.P.E Shooters Shoot for Charity event invites beginner shooters to be introduced to the world of competitive shooting. Families and children are welcome to shoot, and in addition to the competition ranges, a plinking station and a demonstration area will be staged.

"We want to encourage the shooters in our local community to participate in an event that is fun, challenging, and open to all skill levels while also benefiting our local charities,” says Buddy Lichty, COO/Owner of S.H.A.R.P.E. Shooters.  This is a great event for families and new shooters to attend as we will also be having a few beginner workshops throughout the event."

Proceeds from Shoot for Charity will benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank in their mission to feed the hungry and Augusta Warrior Project in their mission to connect local veterans to resources that help improve their lives.

“We are very excited to be partners with S.H.A.R.P.E. Shooters and their Shoot for Charity event” says Travis McNeal, Executive Director of Golden Harvest Food Bank. “We hope anyone interested in the sport will come out and support us and AWP.”

Shoot for Charity will be held at S.H.A.R.P.E. Shooters’ outdoor range at 2901 Gun Club Road in Augusta (just off Riverwatch Parkway). Gates will open at 9 am and the competition will begin at 10 am. For more information or to register, visit www.sharpeshootersaugusta.com.
