2016 USSSA World Military Softball Tournament Comes to Augusta This Week

Augusta's bases will be loaded this weekend, August 11-14, with the 2016 USSSA World Military Softball Tournament at Diamond Lakes Regional Park and Fort Gordon's softball complex. In its 15th year, this tournament is the largest military softball tournament in the world. It has 123 teams registered, the most teams ever entered. With players expected to travel from all over the world, the ASC expects an estimated $3,527,719 in direct visitor spending.

Six divisions will be playing this weekend including; Men's Varsity "A", Men's Varsity "B", Men's Intramural, Women's Varsity, Men's Over 40 and Co-Ed. Participants include active military, guard/reserve, retired military, DOD civilians and DOD contractors. Brackets for the tournament can be found here.

"We have the most teams ever entered in this tournament and we could not be more excited! The players and the families have been so enthusiastic about coming to Augusta. This tournament is going to be enormous," says Dustin Roberts, USSSA National Military Program Director. Stacie Adkins, CEO of the Augusta Sports Council adds, "We are overwhelmed with the number of the teams coming to Augusta for this event. The association with Fort Gordon is once again an asset for our community, and we look forward to many years of hosting this tournament."
