Augusta Chamber’s Member Economic Luncheon Explores "Cyber in Manufacturing"

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that T. Bond Calloway, Jr., Associate Laboratory Director of Clean Energy at Savannah River National Laboratory, will be the keynote speaker at the Member Economic Luncheon occurring on Tuesday, September 6th at the Augusta Marriott Hotel at the Convention Center. Bond Calloway leads a dynamic team of scientists and engineers conducting basic and applied research related to renewable and nuclear energy. He is also responsible for leading strategic and innovation planning for SRNL. Calloway has more than 25 years of industrial experience in the research and development, design, construction and operation of DOE's nuclear/chemical process systems. He was also awarded the 2011 DOE Energy Sustainability award for his collaborations in renewable energy research. Calloway is the author of more than 50 papers on various aspects of nuclear waste and energy research. He has won the prestigious R&D 100 Award for innovation in advanced sensor technology.

Cyber Security Technology and Manufacturing are the focus of the new Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute. Led by a leadership coalition in partnership with the Department of Energy, the project brings together nearly 200 partners from across academia, industry, and non-profits to spur advances in smart sensors and digital process controls that can radically improve the efficiency of U.S. advanced manufacturing. Leading the Southeast regional center of this $210M dollar project, Savannah River National Laboratory is focusing on advanced cyber security technology to enable cloud computing in the manufacturing sector, as their technology, currently developed for defense purposes, is commercialized for the private sector.
