Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016

Join the Augusta Sports Council at the GreenJackets baseball game on Thursday, August 25th as they take on the Greenville Drive. Thursdays at GreenJackets game are Thirsty Thursdays - $1 beers and sodas all night long. Fans are encouraged to donate canned food and wear their favorite team's attire because it's College Football Night and Clash of Clans II.

The Augusta Sports Council is excited to attend this specific night as the 2016 Ray Guy Award is underway. The ASC created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, GA native and College & Pro-Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. The award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association, which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football. The Ray Guy Award recipient is announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show every year in December.

The ASC will have a booth set up during the game to promote the award as well as let fans take pictures with the Ray Guy Award. Throughout the game the council will be giving away shirts and other items. Along with the Ray Guy Award, the sports council created a local high school Punter of the Week and looks forward to announcing this new program to the community.

Chloe Parker, coordinator of the Ray Guy Award says, "I'm really looking forward to promoting the Ray Guy Award as well as the new local high school Punter of the Week program. I hope this affiliation with a nationally recognized award will highlight some of our local talent."
