Sponsors, Teams Invited to 24th Annual Phil S. Harison Memorial Golf Classic Sept. 19th
Wednesday, August 31st, 2016
An annual fall tradition, the Phil S. Harison Memorial Golf Classic returns for its 24th year on Monday, September 19 at West Lake Country Club, benefiting the Walton Foundation for Independence. Onsite registration begins at 10 a.m.; lunch is served at 11:30 a.m.; and shotgun start is at 1 p.m.
Sponsors and teams still have an opportunity to participate in the event, which honors local businessman Phil S. Harison, chair of the Walton Foundation board (1998-2007) and supports a cause near and dear to his heart: helping people with disabilities in the CSRA live, work and play successfully.
During the golf classic, up to 32 teams of four enjoy lunch, fun on the course at West Lake Country Club and an evening awards banquet. Golfers can win prizes such as a Honda lawnmower for a hole-in-one or shots that are “nearest to the hole,” and can enter a raffle for 15 sporting and entertainment events, including tickets to the PGA Tour Championship and SEC Football Championship game.
Every golfer also receives a goody bag filled with gifts and a choice of Footjoy golf shoes or apparel, and crystal awards are presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
Opportunities abound for sponsorships, in-kind donations and other ways to support the foundation’s mission. Hole sponsors are encouraged to set up on their holes for a day of fun, sharing business information and treats with the players.
“As one of the Walton Foundation’s signature events, the Phil S. Harison Memorial Golf Classic offers sponsors and teams the chance to participate in more than just a golf tournament. The golf classic is a fall tradition thanks to the many unique ways we make it fun and rewarding for our participants. And both golfers and sponsors know that their participation has a greater reward: making life more independent for those with disabilities in this area,” said Haley Hamam, Associate Development Officer for Walton Foundation for Independence.
Team spots are still available, and cost is $1,290 per team of four.
