To promote an interest in Aviation, Augusta Regional Airport held a Coloring Contest for children around the CSRA. Children aged 5 to 10 were asked to color the AGS plane above their favorite spot in Augusta. The contest started August 1st and the submissions were due on the 26th. The Airport received 109 coloring pages from all over the CSRA.

All of the submissions were reviewed by the Augusta Regional Airport’s Art Committee. Three first place winners were selected from each age group. The winners were Miss Ivey Hadden from Warren Road Elementary in the 5-6 year old category, Miss Kennedy Harris from Lake Forest Hills Elementary in the 7-8 year olds, and Miss Xiarymarie Rosales from Warren Road Elementary in the 9-10 year olds. Each winner received a McDonalds gift card and a goodie bag filled with AGS toys. The winner’s drawings have been posted in the Airports main terminal building.

“We enjoyed seeing the creative and imaginative pictures the kids drew,” said Herbert Judon, Airport’s Executive Director. “We hope that by holding this contest we sparked an interest in aviation.”
