Georgia Makers Make Trip to the White House
Friday, September 2nd, 2016
The Peach State was well represented at the Makerspace Organizers Meeting convened by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
A total of 13 Georgians, representing makerspaces from across the state attend the event, joining approximately 200 other makerspace organizers from around the country. The day consisted of lightning talks from different makerspace organizers, presentations from multiple government agencies on ways to engage the federal government for funding makerspace initiatives, as well as workshops and round table discussions on how to grow the maker movement throughout the country.
“The White House is really recognizing the importance of makerspaces in STEM education and in the development of new technology products and companies”, says Augusta’s Eric R. Parker, ATDC Augusta Startup Catalyst, Cofounder and Board Chair of theClubhou.se in Augusta, GA.
