Serotta Maddocks Evans, CPAs Hires and Promotes Multiple New Team Members

Serotta Maddocks Evans, CPAs, a full service accounting and auditing firm, is excited to announce multiple new hires and promotions. Donna Brunstad, Keri Echols and Travis Walden join SME as Staff Accountants; Becky Dearden as the Director of Marketing; Kerry Brown as an Administrative Assistant; and Ryan Bernat received a promotion from Runner to Intern.
Donna Brunstad comes to SME from Lethert, Skwira, Schultz & Co. LLP in St. Paul, Minnesota. Donna has 4 years’ experience as a CPA, and started with SME on Oct. 3. SME is excited to welcome Donna to the family.
Keri Echols joined SME from Huntsville, Alabama in September as a Staff Accountant. Keri is a recent graduate of the University of Alabama Huntsville with a Bachelor of Accounting. Keri and her husband are excited to be in Augusta and can’t wait to get involved with the community.
Travis Walden has been promoted to Staff Accountant. Travis has been with SME since 2014 when he started as a runner, and was then promoted to an intern and now to a Staff Accountant. He graduated from Augusta University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. Travis is an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Green Bay Packers fan. In his spare time he plays golf and hunts.
Becky Dearden, Director of Marketing, came to SME from the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce. Becky started with SME in October and received an Advertising Degree from USC Columbia. “I can’t wait to tell SME’s story in hopes of getting new and existing clients excited about our tax and audit services,” says Becky.
Kerry Brown brings years of experience to SME as an Administrative Assistant. Kerry came to SME from Carpet Masters in Aiken where she worked for three years. Kerry obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Abby Business School in Fredrick, Maryland. Kerry will be instrumental in aiding our fast growing team.
Ryan Bernat has been promoted to full-time Intern. He joined SME in July of 2013 as a runner. He is currently on track to receive his Bachelor of Accounting from Augusta University. “SME is one of the best places to work in terms of the family environment.
