Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Wednesday, October 12th, 2016

The Augusta Richmond County Public Library System welcomes Pat Herndon, Director of the Georgia Libraries for Statewide Accessible Services, for the library system’s first annual GLASS Partner Appreciation program on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 2:00 pm in the auditorium of the Headquarters Library (823 Telfair St., Augusta).  GLASS provides accessible materials for Georgia residents who, due to a disability, are unable to read standard print. The goal of GLASS is to enroll eligible Georgia residents into the Talking Books Program, which delivers library materials via US Mail to homes and care providers at no cost to them. Care providers for senior citizens, personal care homes, children’s services and disability service providers will be in attendance in recognition of their support of GLASS and the Talking Books Program.

Outreach Services Manager Erin Prentiss was especially compelled to host this event for the institutions that utilize this free service for Georgia residents.  Prentiss states that “this program is a great opportunity to bring our partners together at the home of GLASS Augusta Outreach.”

The GLASS Augusta Outreach Services team provides information about and assistance with GLASS services to 21 Georgia counties, including Burke, Wilkes, Columbia, Bryan, Screven, Bulloch, Laurens, Johnson, Treutlen, Washington, Glascock, Taliaferro, McDuffie, Lincoln, Jefferson, Candler, Evans, Jenkins, Emmanuel, Warren and Richmond Counties.  The GLASS Augusta Outreach Services Team is located on the third floor of the Headquarters building of the Augusta Richmond County Public Library.
