Augusta Regional Airport is honored to have been selected for the Georgia Airports Associations’ Airport Project of the Year Award!

Each year The Georgia Airports Association Board of Directors receives nominations from Airports across the State for GAA’s Airport Project of the Year Award. This award is presented to the Airport whose project significantly improved safety, airport capacity or required extraordinary resourcefulness.

AGS received this award for the Airports’ ramp rehabilitation project. The project was designed to rehabilitate 7.2 acres of the air carrier apron and the general aviation apron. It was funded by $8,400,400.00 awarded to AGS in 2012 by the voter approved Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

Due to the hard work and dedication of AGS’s engineering consulting firm, Mead & Hunt, Inc., the projects contractor, McCarthy Improvement Company, and the AGS staff, this project was completed on time and on budget.

“This rehab has allowed for additional aircraft parking and safer taxiing and parking areas for pilots,” said Herbert Judon, Jr., AGS’s Executive Director. “We have received multiple compliments from both commercial and private pilots on the integrity of our ramp area and the ease of parking their aircraft.”
