Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016
In 2016, more than two-thirds of Richmond County high schools improved, or maintained, their graduation rate, while seven high schools had a graduation rate above 80%, exceeding the state average. Superintendent Dr. Angela Pringle says, “These results demonstrate that we are moving in the right direction. Business and community partners, such as the Textron Specialized Vehicles project (Reaching Potential through Manufacturing), will continue to support our efforts to improve opportunities for graduation.”
RCBOE President Helen Minchew is “proud of the hard work at all of our high schools, but especially Westside High School and the Academy of Richmond County, which posted their highest graduation rates since 2004. In addition, the Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School had a graduation rate of 98%, in its first ever graduating class.”
“Administrators, teachers, and counselors continue to work through programs like the University of Georgia National College Advising Corps to promote college and career readiness. We are inspired by our continued growth and improvement” said Mr. Marion Barnes, Vice President of the Richmond County Board of Education. “Our educators and children deserve credit for their hard work and dedication to continuous improvement.”
