Downtown Augusta Family YMCA to Hold Community Coat Drive December 19th

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016

The Downtown Augusta Family YMCA is collecting gently used coats and other winter accessories including hats and scarves for those who may need a little more warmth in the winter months. All other YMCA branches will start collecting winter coats and accessories on Monday, December 19.

“It’s not a fun feeling to be cold, and we want to help our neighbors in need during the winter months as the temperature drops,” says Danny McConnell, President/CEO of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta. “This is a great way to make this Christmas season a little more merry and bright for those in need.”

Coats and other accessories collected will be available for patrons in need on a coat rack placed outside of the Downtown Augusta Family Y and all other locations. In case of inclement weather, the rack will be placed inside of the branch. Patrons in need may take a coat off the rack for them to keep. Anyone interested in donating to the coat drive can leave their coats on the rack hangers.
