Georgia Power Makes $60,000 Donation to United Way of the CSRA

On Wednesday, December 13, 2016, at 4:00 PM, Southern Company officials from Georgia Power East Region and Plant Vogtle presented a check in the amount of $60,000 to United Way of the CSRA.  The presentation was made at United Way’s December Board of Directors meeting.  The $60,000 donation from the Georgia Power Foundation is part of Georgia Power’s and Southern Nuclear’s total pledge of over $350,000 from employees, fundraisers and sponsorships to the 2017 United Way campaign.  Presenting the check was Georgia Power Vice President Fran Forehand along with Southern Nuclear Vice President Keith Taber and Karen Davis Fili.   Receiving the check was LaVerne Gold, President/CEO of United Way of the Central Savannah River Area; Scott Johnson, Board Chair; and Scott Elledge and Mark Haddon, United Way’s Campaign Co-Chairs.

These funds will go into United Way’s 2016 Fundraising Campaign where they will be used to help support 46 vital health and human service programs provided by United Way’s 24 partner agencies.  These funded programs make an immediate difference in the lives of thousands of CSRA residents, infants to seniors, while helping strengthen the entire community.
