Chamber Hosts January Women in Business Luncheon January 17th

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host the first Women in Business Luncheon of 2017 on Tuesday, January 17 at the Legends Club. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 am with an opportunity for networking.

Guest Speaker Melissa Furman, Assistant Dean, Hull College of Business, Augusta University, will discuss "What am I thinking?!: Unconscious bias and how it may be impacting your career and the career of others.” Unconscious bias is a bias that occurs beyond our awareness and happens outside of our control. The first step to overcoming any challenge is recognition and awareness, and the second step is taking action. The guest speaker will facilitate the journey of awareness that includes a brief overview of unconscious bias and introduce resources and steps to overcome unconscious bias in order to continue fostering a healthy workplace for all professionals.

Ms. Furman has a passion for helping individuals with career, professional and leadership development, and has facilitated many career development and leadership workshops.  Currently pursuing a Doctorate of Business at Georgia State University, Ms. Furman has a Master's degree in Professional Counseling, is a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Career Development Facilitator.
