Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Friday, January 20th, 2017

It is an empty construction site now, but Joe Mullins, one of the developers behind the second phase of Mullins Crossing, said the property will become a 145 thousand square foot shopping center.

"'I'm officially announcing The kick off of Mullins Colony formally called Mullins Crossing phase two," Mullins said.

The shopping center will also be home of an 85 thousand square-foot Belk.

The piece of land the shopping center is being built on is the same piece of land where Mullins grew up.

"As a family, we are proud that our childhood home will be the host of the areas finest shopping center," Mullins said.

The development has been in the works for five years, but Mullins said there is good reason for that.

"My brother Frank has been very adamant about making this one of the finest shopping centers in the area because this was our home," Mullins said.

Mullins said this shopping center will look more high-end but it will be a good balance of affordable restaurants and retail.

"It will not be like any center in the area it will be aesthetically a very beautiful place," Mullins said.

No other store names have been released yet, but Mullins said they plan on having the shopping center open for business by October 2017.
