"Operation Hand-Warmer 2017" Launches January Today

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Friday, January 6th, 2017

CEO Larry Miller announced recently that long-time charity partner KICKS 99 is kicking off “Operation Hand-Warmer 2017” with a series of morning drive remote broadcasts from select area WalMart locations, featuring “The KICKS Wake-up Krew”.  Morning radio icon Mike Tyler explains how the Walmart connection will make hand-warmer donations easier and more spontaneous: “Folks who want to help out our troops can drop by at the Walmart we’re broadcasting from that morning, walk in and purchase a pack or two of hand-warmers, and then simply drop off their hand-warmers to ‘Dub’ (Bryan Axelson), Jenny Bender, or me on their way out.” (Details about KICKS 99 remote Walmart broadcasts are listed at www.Kicks99.com and at www.OperationHandWarmerUS.com.)

Burt Sappenfield, a civic-minded CSRA HOME CONNECTIONS Premier Provider and Ambassador who created “Operation Hand-Warmer” back in 2012, has already laid the groundwork for this drive to collect hand-warmers for our front-line troops in Korea, Afghanistan, and other duty stations in rugged countries which traditionally experience bitterly cold winters. “Operation Hand-Warmer” is designed to supplement standard military issue clothing and supplies, specifically for those who have to perform critical tasks requiring manual dexterity. “We want to make it easy and simple for citizens with a heart for our military to help warm the hands---and hearts---of our men and women in uniform,” adds Mr. Sappenfield.
