Finding snow in January was easy if you attended the Fifth Annual Columbia County Snowfest at the Evans Towne Center Park. Nearly 15,000 people attended the event breaking previous attendance record by far. Most importantly, the event raised over $20,000 for two worthy causes, Press On and Columbia County Arts.

The checks were delivered on Monday to the two organizations at a press conference held at the Evans Park. “We are proud to support these two wonderful charitable groups,” said Joe Mullins, CEO of Mullins Management & Entertainment. “On behalf of our sponsors and those in attendance we provide these funds to support your efforts to make life better in the CSRA.”

Those attending the press conference included:

- Ron Cross, Chairman, Board of Commissioners, Columbia County

- Representatives from key sponsors including Kirkland’s Flooring, Gerald Jones Automotive, Advanced Technology and Windsor Jewelers

- Tuner Simpkins, Founder of Press On

“In 2010, we started the charity to fund research on special types of cancer,” said Turner Simpkins, founder of Press On, a local nonprofit group dedicated to supporting research and finding a cure for childhood cancer. “Because of organization’s and events like Snowfest we are literally able to press on toward a cure.”

The annual event is produced by Mullins Management & Entertainment, and each year proceeds from Snowfest benefit a local charity. “We really appreciate other businesses in the community that step up each year and support Snowfest,” said Joe Mullins, CEO of Mullins Management & Entertainment. “I especially want to thank Kirkland’s for their partnership. Russell Kirkland and his employees have went all out to help make this event a success.”
