GENERATION STARTUP Screening at Augusta University
Thursday, February 16th, 2017
The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Hull College of Business, Augusta University, is hosting a screening of GENERATION STARTUP, a documentary that takes us to the front lines of entrepreneurship in America, capturing an in-the-trenches look at the struggles and triumphs of six recent college graduates who put everything on the line to launch startups in Detroit.
The film will be screened on Wednesday, March 15 in University Hall, Room 170 at the Augusta University Summerville Campus. This complementary event is open to the public. Directed by Academy Award winner Cynthia Wade and Academy Award-nominated Cheryl Houser, the film celebrates risk-taking, urban revitalization, and diversity while delivering a vital call-to-action—with entrepreneurship at a record low, the country’s economic future is at stake.
The young men and women of GENERATION STARTUP are part of Venture For America, a program that sends recent college graduates to work at startups in fifteen cities around the country to train as entrepreneurs, and then helps them launch their own companies.
Inspiring entrepreneurial development is a key objective of the Chamber in generating economic growth especially with an abundance of opportunity in Augusta, as it becomes a destination for innovation in cyber technology. “The Hull College of Business is proud to promote the entrepreneurial spirit in Augusta with both established and burgeoning industries,” says Dr. Rick Franza, Dean of the Hull College of Business at Augusta University. “The joint partnership with the Augusta Metro Chamber assists us in supporting and encouraging entrepreneurship and start-up activities with our students and our community.”
