Savannah River Site Employees Donate More Than $130,000 to Charity

The U.S. Department of Energy, Savannah River Site surpassed its goal when it presented a check to the Combined Federal Campaign last month worth over $11,000 more than its target number.

The federal group originally set its sights on a $120,000 goal but raised over $131,000. The Combined Federal Campaign, or CFC, is an individual donation program for federal government employees.

The federal entities at DOE-SRS include the National Nuclear Safety Administration, the Office of Inspector General, the U.S. Forest service and the DOE-SRS Operations Office. The campaign kicked off in September. If each of the more than 415 eligible federal employees donated, the average amount would have been more than $300 each.

The campaign raises millions of dollars annually and is the world’s largest and most successful workforce donation program. This year’s SRS program was coordinated by CFC Chair Pam Marks and Co-Chair Rachel Zoss.

“The tremendous support of the SRS federal workforce, demonstrates their desire to improve the lives of people in the CSRA, the nation and the world,” said DOE-SRS Manager Jack Craig.

Doug Dearolph, DOE Manager for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Savannah River Field Office, who presented the check on behalf of Craig, said the success of this year’s campaign could not have been achieved without the generosity of so many at SRS.
