AP Wealth Management and The Augusta Fund are pleased to announce the establishment of The George & Dorothy Walton Award.  Presented annually, the award recognizes a married couple who has contributed outstanding service to our community in the spirit of George and Dorothy Walton, expressly:

• Their lifestyle exemplifies selflessness, hospitality, courage and devotion to the nation, to community and the health of family in our culture.

• They both have a strong public service record (together or as individuals).

• Their lives and volunteering have a significant impact on people in our community.

The winning couple receives a physical award for display in their home or business, and are invited to direct a donation to a 501(c)(3) organization based in the CSRA.  This year’s award amount is $5000.  (Donation given in honor of the winning couple.)

(Winners are chosen by the George and Dorothy Walton Award Committee and selections are subject to final approval of the committee.)

Candidates must be a living, married couple (or at least one surviving spouse) that resides in Richmond, Columbia, Burke, McDuffie or Aiken counties.  Both husband and wife must have a record of community service.  The couple’s community service must benefit more than one CSRA organization or cause.

The inaugural presentation of The George and Dorothy Walton Award was held on Thursday, February 23, 2017, 5:30-7:30 pm, at the Old Government House.  Winners were Steve and Linda Cutcliffe of Evans.

Nominations may be submitted by any individual or organization between September 1 and October 31, via the AP Wealth Management website: www.apwealth.com, or by paper nomination form.
