Tuesday, March 14th, 2017

Augusta University launches a new online resource featuring an array of university and health system experts who can be relied on to provide timely, informative interviews.

The new Augusta University Expert Center makes it faster and easier to find professors, doctors and professional staff with expertise in cybersecurity, political science, healthcare, business and more. The multimedia profiles include prior media appearances, photographs, videos and keywords to help journalists quickly identify the expert that best fits their needs.

“This new center highlights the many ways Augusta University faculty and staff are leading Georgia and the nation in their fields,” said Augusta University President Brooks Keel, PhD. “As Georgia’s health sciences university and a national center for cybersecurity education, we are proud to offer these nationally recognized experts to contribute to conversations about pressing issues in today’s news.”

The Augusta University Expert Center can be found at augusta.edu/experts. The searchable online resource, powered by expertfile.com, includes several features:

Find An Expert – profiles are indexed by key information areas and are fully searchable using key words to help users find the right expert.

Comprehensive Profiles – all key information is available in one place.

Multimedia & Social Media – pictures, videos and presentations are posted on the experts' profile pages. If the individual has social media accounts, these are listed as well.

Fast Connections to Media Relations Staff – The “connect” button on the profile pages goes to Department of Media Relations at Augusta University. A staff member will reach out to the expert and quickly respond with the expert's availability.

“This resource allows journalists to identify an Augusta University expert quickly and will allow us to rapidly respond to requests,” said Karla Leeper, executive vice president for strategic communications and chief marketing officer at Augusta University. “We hope members of the media will check back regularly, as new experts will be added frequently.”
