On Tuesday, March 7th, the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Teachers in Business event. A partnership of the Columbia County Chamber Foundation and the Columbia County School System, Teachers In Business coordinates tours of local businesses for 40 Columbia County elementary and middle school counselors. The goal of the program is to highlight future workforce needs in the community and foster understanding between educators and employers.

To begin the day, counselors met at the Chamber office for a short briefing where they were split into five groups. Each group visited two businesses representing different local industries to learn about the processes and diverse career opportunities available within each industry.

Companies participating in this year’s program include: John Deere Commercial Products, ADP, EDTS, Atlanta Gas Light, HealthWise, Doctors Hospital, Augusta University Medical, Unisys, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, and Georgia Iron Works.
