Family YMCA of Greater Augusta to hold 2017 Annual Meeting and Annual Campaign Celebration Today

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, March 28th, 2017

The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta will conclude its annual fundraising campaign on Tuesday, March 28. This campaign raises funds that ensure that everyone in the CSRA has access to vital Family YMCA programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Every day, the Family Y of Greater Augusta works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as obesity, childcare and programs for people with disabilities.

“At the Family Y, strengthening community is our cause, and in the CSRA, the Y of Greater Augusta provides an anchor to our community that gives all of us – regardless of age, income or background – the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive,” said Danny McConnell, President/CEO of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta.  “We are so grateful to those in our community who’ve given to the YMCA and joined our cause in support of a better tomorrow for the CSRA.”

This year, the Family Y of Greater Augusta set a goal to raise $1,147,800. “Financial gifts of any size to support the YMCA this year could make a huge difference in someone’s life in the future,” said Ed Enoch, 2017 Annual Campaign Chairman. The YMCA will announce on Tuesday if it’s Annual Campaign goal was met to help provide financial assistance to low-income individuals and families in the CSRA. In addition to the Annual Campaign total unveiling, the Annual Meeting of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta will take place.

In 2016, the Family Y of Greater Augusta awarded over $2 million in financial assistance to individuals and families throughout the CSRA. The charitable gifts from donors made it possible for the community’s low income families to send their children to after-school care, full-day childcare or Family Y day camp programs.
