The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Richmond County School System are sponsoring the second annual Manufacturing Summit for high school students in Richmond County. The event begins on March 23rd at 9:00 AM at the T.W. Josey High School gymnasium.

The purpose of the summit is to increase student awareness of the manufacturing careers that are available in Augusta-Richmond County. High school students will tour a manufacturing facility and learn about the potential careers from actual employees.

Over 200 students from ten high schools applied to participate in the summit and were selected to participate in this program.

The event opens with a pep rally and guest speaker to introduce the program. After the rally, students in groups of 20 to 25 with chaperones will head to their designated manufacturing facility for the tour and talk. After a lunch provided by the plant, students will return to their respective schools.

Some participating facilities include Olin, PCS Nitrogen, Textron, Hagler Systems, Elanco, Resolute, and Kellogg’s.
