A new interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree program at Augusta University is giving students the opportunity to customize a degree path based on their unique interests and career goals.
The Bachelors of Arts in Integrated Studies is a degree program designed for students to complete self-selected concentrations with a customized path or previously earned college credit. With the guidance of advisors, students will map out an appropriate course sequence following the completion of core classes.
Dr. Charles Clark, dean of the university’s Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, says the program’s purpose is to meet the needs of students on a career path that does not fit into the traditional bachelor’s degree program.
“This degree fits right in the University System of Georgia’s Complete College of Georgia initiative because it offers students a chance to maximize their potential and be more profitable in today’s workforce,” Clark said. “Especially exciting is the opportunity it provides for students to combine expertise from different disciplines and develop the unique skills they need to take jobs in new and emerging fields that may not be well served by a more traditional or discipline-specific degree.”
