Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Thursday, April 20th, 2017

The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta will celebrate the 2017 Team Lean Finale on Saturday, April 22 at 9:45 am followed by Healthy Kids Day. This year’s Team Lean winners will be announced starting at 9:45 am and the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day celebration will follow from 10:00 am-3:00 pm. This year, in conjunction with Earth Day festivities, both events will be held at Phinizy Swamp, located at 1858 Lock and Dam Road in Augusta.

Every day, the Family Y of Greater Augusta works to encourage kids and families to live happier and healthier lives. We are looking forward to honoring the winners of our 10th annual Team Lean competition and help our community “Charge into Summer” with family fun activities during Healthy Kids Day. “The YMCA wants to help kids grow into happy and healthy adults by learning the importance of staying healthy at a young age,” said Danny McConnell, President/CEO of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta. We encourage everyone in the community, of all ages, to join our cause and come celebrate with us on April 22.

“At the Family Y, it is our goal to reach our community and show the importance of staying active and living a healthy lifestyle,” said Mary Crowder, Senior Vice President of Youth and Child Services for the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta.

Team Lean is a 12-week “Biggest Loser” style competition that kicks off in January at the Family YMCA. Over 1,000 people participated in Team Lean 2017, and over 10,000 pounds have been lost since Team Lean began in 2007.
