There is a critical and immediate need for blood donors with O NEGATIVE, O POSITIVE and A NEGATIVE blood type and platelet donors of any blood type. The CSRA, in the midst of Masters Week and Spring Break, was hit hard Monday and Wednesday of this week by severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. The area’s blood supply has suffered due to a perfect storm of multiple factors. The mass exodus of locals for Tournament play coupled with a number of traumas has left the blood supply in critical need. Trauma patients to whom Shepeard is supplying blood are both storm and non-storm related accidents.
Shepeard Community Blood Center only goes into critical need when the quantity of ready blood and blood products falls below a one-day supply level. The local blood supply is supported strictly by the donations of volunteer blood donors.

If you are O NEGATIVE, O POSITIVE, A NEGATIVE or a platelet donor and have been putting off donating, please do not wait one more day! Patients in hospitals across the two-state are depending on you! You can donate this weekend at the centers whose hours and locations are listed below or at the blood drives listed.

Donors must be in good general health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old (or 16 with written parental consent) to donate. Be sure to bring a photo ID or Shepeard donor card with you when you come to donate.
