Monday, May 1st, 2017
The Augusta Sports Council is seeking volunteers for the 9th annual IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta triathlon event on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Over 1,700 volunteers are needed with opportunities to help mid-week prior to the race and will conclude Monday post-race. Volunteer opportunities range from athlete registration and venue set-up to finish line support and aid stations on the bike and run courses.
In an effort to enhance the well-being of those residing in the communities where IRONMAN events are held, the IRONMAN Foundation provides an opportunity for IRONMAN Athletes to showcase charitable support to a variety of local nonprofit organizations that recognize citizens in need and provide support to the local community. The IRONMAN Foundation is thrilled to support deserving organizations within the Augusta region, and will be awarding $20,500 in grant funding this year to nonprofits with a volunteerism component. To date, the IRONMAN Foundation has awarded a total of $103,700 in grant funding to 110 non-profit organizations in the Augusta River Region.
