This week, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded the Augusta Technical College Foundation a $6,000 grant to support 150 GED Scholarship Test Opportunities. This local grant award is part of over $7.5 million in grants awarded to nearly 900 schools, nonprofits and organizations across the 44 states that Dollar General serves.
“Dollar General has made a huge impact for Adult Education students at Augusta Technical College, throughout Georgia and ultimately nationwide. In our case, their support removes the last obstacle for a student that is prepared to take the GED test and may lack the funds to do so. It literally has moved people to higher education opportunities and payrolls, and we certainly are appreciative of their continued support of the work we do in our service area,” stated Beverly Barshafsky Peltier, Director of the Augusta Technical College Foundation. “Their support has changed lives.”
“Dollar General is excited to provide these organizations with funding to support literacy and education throughout the 44 states we serve,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s CEO. “Providing these grants and supporting the communities we call home reflects our mission of Serving Others and it’s rewarding to see the impact these funds have.”
