Thirteen Reasons Why Author Visits Columbia County Library June 18th

The Columbia County Library will host author Colleen Oakley on Sunday, June 18 at 4:00 pm in the Jabez Sandford Hardin Performing Arts Center. Asher’s debut novel, Thirteen Reasons Why, was recently adapted as a critically acclaimed Netflix series. Asher will speak, answer questions, and sign autographs.
Thirteen Reasons Why has appeared regularly on the New York Times bestsellers list for the past 10 years. It has sold over 2.5 million copies in the US alone. The book tells the story of high school student, Clay Jensen, and his friend Hannah Baker, a girl who committed suicide after suffering a series of demoralizing circumstances brought on by select individuals at her school. A box of cassette tapes recorded by Hannah before her suicide details thirteen reasons why she ended her life.
His second YA novel, The Future of Us, was coauthored with Printz-honor winner Carolyn Mackler. His novels have been translated into over 30 languages. His third novel, What Light, was released in October 2016.
