Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

Goodwill Industries is collaborating with the Red Cross in Macon and Augusta to assist with the efforts concerning hurricane evacuees in the Central Savannah and Middle Georgia areas.

Susan Everitt, Executive Director of the American Red Cross in Augusta cautioned against inundating shelters with material donations. Everitt encourages the community to contribute your donations to Goodwill, which has the capacity and system to receive and process donations.

"Goodwill will be providing clothing vouchers to the American Red Cross in Augusta and Macon to distribute to the evacuees. The Good Samaritan vouchers will allow evacuees to get clothing or shoes in appropriate sizes and shop with dressing room dignity" said Stiff.

“We appreciate Goodwill working with us by providing Macon-Bibb Emergency Management volunteers additional vouchers in order to shop for items for those who are without transportation in our shelters,” American Red Cross Regional Program Manager, Jon Glenn added.

Goodwill locations will be accepting material donations as well as monetary contributions in their retail stores throughout September to aid the Hurricane relief efforts. Financial contributions made at Goodwill store checkout register areas in Middle Georgia and in the CSRA are being designated to help autonomous sister Goodwill charity organizations to rebuild career counseling, job training and placement services in Texas and Florida.
