Walter Sprouse to Retire

Walter C. Sprouse announced that he will be retiring from the Augusta Economic Development Authority at the end of the year.  Sprouse has served as the Executive Director of the Authority for the past fifteen years.  During that time, more than $3 billion in new investments and more than 15,000 new jobs were created under his leadership.

In 2017, Sprouse was named as one of the “Top 50 Economic Developers in North America”.  He was also named as one of the “100 Most Influential Georgians” by Georgia Trend magazine.  He previously was named to the “Most Influential” list in 2008 and was named five times to the magazine’s Notable Georgians list.  He is an Honorary Life Member and in the College of Fellows of the International Economic Development Council, and the College of Fellows of the International Asset Management Council.

Chairman Henry Ingram said, “As Chairman and on the behalf of the Augusta Economic Development Authority, we wish Walter the best in his retirement.  His tenure as Executive Director has been one of professionalism and distinction.  Under his watch, many great projects came to Augusta.  Even as he leaves us for retirement, he is currently still working hard to leave the Authority with many new projects to complete. The Authority will miss Walter in a great and significant way.
