“Operation Hand-Warmer 2017-2018” is Officially Underway

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Wednesday, December 13th, 2017

CEO Larry Miller announced recently that “Operation Hand-Warmer 2017” is in full swing, with a series of iHeartMEDIA live remote radio broadcasts from select area retail locations, featuring local personalities Blaine Jackson with 105.7 The Bull” (WLUB-FM) and Cliff Bennett with WBBQ (“104.3 FM”) from December 13th through December 20th.  Burt Sappenfield, a civic-minded CSRA HOME CONNECTIONS Premier Provider and Ambassador who created “Operation Hand-Warmer” back in 2012, has already laid the groundwork for this drive to collect hand-warmers (and other items) for our front-line troops in Korea, Afghanistan, and other duty stations in rugged countries which traditionally experience bitterly cold winters.

“Operation Hand-Warmer” is designed to supplement standard military issue clothing and supplies, specifically for those who have to perform critical tasks requiring manual dexterity. “We want to make it easy and simple for citizens with a heart for our military to help warm the hands---and hearts---of our men and women in uniform,” adds Mr. Sappenfield.(www.OperationHandWarmerUS.com)

A Letter of Appreciation from a U.S. Military Leader

CLASSIFICATION: UNCLASSIFIED

Mr. Sappenfield, all I can say is “Wow!  Thank you all of the Operation Hand-Warmer” volunteers so much for the hand-warmers and toe-warmers.  My soldiers will put them and all the other essential items you sent to good use.  Some don't believe it but it does get cold here, especially when we are in an aircraft at altitude.  It comforts me to know that there is a team of individuals like “Operation Hand-Warmer” who have not forgotten about our soldiers.

Thank you for your commitment to our service.
