Rural Source Inc. has paired with United Way of the CSRA to host the area’s first “Code for a Cause” cyber hackathon event at Enterprise Mill on Friday, February 23, 2018.  Teams of coders, computer programmers, graphic designers, and more will compete in a four hour competition inside the Mill’s Starch Room to enhance and upgrade one of United Way of the CSRA’s community database, a database that thousands of children and families rely on each year to find and obtain assistance.

Registration for participants begins at 12:00 p.m. with the competition running from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Teams will be given their secret assignment on what to complete at 1:00 pm, and winners will be judged and announced by local nonprofit leadership at 5:30 p.m. Two winning teams will be awarded the title of “Master Coders”, a $500 cash prize, and walk away knowing that they helped thousands of children receive the assistance they needed.

This event will play host to both local students and professionals in the cyber field.
