Augusta Law Firms Plan Fundraisers, Volunteering During Annual Competition to Fight Hunger

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Friday, April 20th, 2018

Lawyers throughout Augusta have planned food drives, fundraising events and volunteer days in support of the 7th Annual Legal Food Frenzy, a two-week, statewide food and fund drive competition among Georgia’s lawyers to combat hunger across the state. The 2018 competition is presented by the Office of the Attorney General, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia.

Everything raised in Augusta and Eastern Georgia will benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank. One in 4 children in Georgia is at risk for hunger and the need for food assistance traditionally increases during the summer months when children do not have access to free school lunches. Last year, 15 firms and legal organizations raised $25,729.00 and 1,125 pounds of food; there were two statewide winners from the region. This year, over 17 firms have registered to compete through April 27.

Some planned events:

- Law Offices of David L. Hugenin are raffling off 4 tickets to an Augusta Greenjackets. Each $10 donation gets one raffle ticket.

- Law Offices of Nathan M. Jolles / Fort Gordon SAMC will collect food from on-post housing during a drive Saturday, April 21.

- Fulcher Hagler LLP will volunteer at the Faith Food Factory on Thursday, April 26, 6-8 p.m.

- Hull Barrett, PC will volunteer at the Faith Food Factory on Friday, April 20, 1-4 p.m.
