GreenJackets and City of North Augusta Announce Traffic & Parking Plan
Wednesday, April 11th, 2018
The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, and the City of North Augusta have been working on finalizing the traffic and parking plan for the Opening Week of events at SRP Park.
Large crowds are expected on April 9th for the North Augusta High School / Greenbrier High School baseball game and capacity crowds will follow on April 10th for the Clemson game through most of the GreenJackets opening homestand, with the official Inaugural Game on Thursday, April 12th.
There are roughly 1,100 on-site parking spaces adjacent to SRP Park. These lots include the Riverside Village Parking Deck (Green Lot), the Medac Parking Deck (Blue Lot) and the North Augusta Municipal Lot (Purple Lot) and will be $5 per game. Parking, however, will be free for the North Augusta High School game. Additionally, the GreenJackets have arranged for $5 paid parking at First Baptist Church of North Augusta and Grace United Methodist Church in North Augusta as well as the Augusta Convention Center Parking Deck in downtown Augusta. Shuttle service will be run from these lots. The GreenJackets will be keeping fans updated on parking availability and any changes. This information can be found at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com/parking starting on April 10th.
There are free parking options in downtown North Augusta as well. Some of these locations are in close proximity to free shuttle stops.
"With this being the first week of events, the systems and processes we have been working on will be tested, and we encourage folks to have patience and arrive early. We are sure it won't be perfect, but we will get this down to a science and may take a handful of games to minimize traffic congestion and get folks accustomed." - Jeff Eiseman, President/Partner of the Augusta GreenJackets
To keep traffic moving and patrons routed, the GreenJackets have worked hand in hand with the City of North Augusta and North Augusta Public Safety. Parking for the Green Lot will be directed from East Buena Vista Avenue to Riverside Blvd to Railroad Avenue. Travel to the Blue Lot will occur via West Clifton/West Buena Vista to West Avenue down to Bluff Ave. Traffic to the Purple Lot will be routed from the south lane on Georgia Avenue turning right into the Municipal lot. No vehicular traffic will be allowed down Center Street or on Bluff Avenue between West Avenue and Center Street. Parking directional signage will be posted throughout downtown North Augusta, and traffic at key places will be monitored by Public Safety.
"A great deal of thought and work have gone into this plan. We know that we have not thought of everything and that there may be a few hiccups, but we will learn from each event to make this as smooth as possible." - Todd Glover, North Augusta City Administrator
To make travel to and from SRP Park carefree, we have provided Lyft, Uber, and taxi pick up and drop off stations on Railroad Avenue parallel to SRP Park a mere feet from the main entrance. Those attending the first week are encouraged to purchase, in advance, pre-paid parking for the adjacent Green, Blue, and Purple lots to ensure the best experience. Some of these lots will most likely sell out in advance of the events.
