Augusta is growing. As new talent is being recruited and superlative companies are moving into town, The Pinnacle Club Board voted unanimously to transition the management of the Club to the talented Edgar's Hospitality Group. This change will help position the Club to provide a state-of-the art and world class Membership destination for the new evolution of the downtown area and CSRA.
The seamless transition of management duties started on August 1, 2018, after retirement of
Joel H. Sobel, Pinnacle Club Chief Operating Officer / General Manager.
“The Pinnacle Club Board is grateful to Joel and his 18 years of leadership to the Club. The Board is confident that we have made the right choice in engaging Edgars Hospitality Group to manage the Club,” said Robert Osborne, President, of The Pinnacle Club Advisory Board. “They have experience in high-end food service - both restaurant management and catering operations, and they have advisory relationships with other prestigious private clubs and hospitality leadership in the CSRA and beyond.”
EHG is the professional hospitality division of Goodwill Industries and its hospitality business serves as the applied learning venues for Helms College. EHG’s enterprises include Edgar’s Grille, Edgar’s Bistro, Hire Grounds Café, the Snelling Conference Center in Augusta and the Anderson Conference Center in Macon. Located adjacent to Helms College, EHG businesses provide hands-on learning opportunities for Helms College students to work with certified executive chefs as well as restaurant managers throughout their program. Under the new management of the Club, students ready for internships will now have an additional upscale environment to refine their skills and customer service.
“We are extremely proud to continue the dream that William Morris III had back in 1963 of providing a private city club to conduct the town’s business and social affairs in a professional setting with outstanding customer service, excellent food, great ambiance and a commanding view,” said James K. Stiff, president of Helms College and founder of the Edgars Hospitality Group. “The new endeavor will also provide another outstanding platform to provide transformative educational learning experiences to our Helms College School of Hospitality students.”
