Augusta Regional Airport was awarded the Georgia Airports Association Project of the Year for the second time within three years!

AGS received the award for the Airport’s Taxiway Alpha (A) rehabilitation and extension project. The primary project scope encompassed the reconstruction and extension of the Taxiway by an additional 2,650 feet. 

The $17.1 million dollar project came in under budget by $681,652.95.  It was funded primarily by Federal Aviation Administration Grants (90%), Georgia Department of Transportation Grants (5%) and Airport Revenues (5%).

Each year the GAA Board of Directors receives nominations for Airports across the State for the Project of Year Award.  The award is presented to the Airport whose project significantly improved safety, airport capacity, or required extraordinary resourcefulness. 

“Due to the hard work and dedication of AGS’ Development staff, our consultant, Mead & Hunt, Inc., and the project contractor, McCarthy Improvement Company, the Airport is honored to have won this award yet again” said Herbert Judon, Jr., AGS's Executive Director. “Taxiway A is a critical node that provides airfield circulation and safety.  As we continue to focus on growth and improvement, this infrastructure positions AGS to accommodate the present and future air service demands of our region.”
