The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is hosting the 54th Annual Primary Care and Family Medicine Symposium March 30-April 4 at the Augusta Marriott and Convention Center, located at 2 10th St.

The symposium, organized by AU’s Professional and Community Education and MCG, will feature workshops presented by faculty from the state’s public medical school. The goals of the symposium are to review advances in treating diseases commonly seen by primary care providers, outline practical evidence-based approaches in disease diagnosis and management that are reflective of those advances, and use evidence-based recommendations for optimal treatment of cancers, infectious diseases, orthopaedic, acute and chronic medical conditions across the age spectrum.

The symposium is targeted to family medicine physicians and other specialists who focus on primary care, and the topics covered change each year. Sessions this year will focus on things like lupus and related connective tissue disorders, HIV updates, updates to lipid guidelines and the management of common headache syndromes, among many others.
