The Richmond County Board of Education (RCBOE) and the Richmond County School System (RCSS) would like to congratulate Mr. Jimmy Atkins, RCBOE President and Trustee for District 8, for being elected to the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) Board of Directors as the representative for District 10. District 10 includes school systems in Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson Co., Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, and Wilkes.

Mr. Atkins will serve a 3-year term on the GSBA Board of Directors and will be responsible for setting association policies, advising staff on the association’s strategic plan, approving the annual budget, and actively participating in financial reporting and oversight. He will also be actively involved with the local boards of education to understand their needs and to provide support. Mr. Jimmy Atkins has the unanimous support of the Richmond County Board of Education and will be an excellent addition to the GSBA leadership team.
