Augusta University Names New Chief Information Security Officer

Dr. Heather Roszkowski, an information technology and security expert with nearly 15 years’ experience, has been named the assistant vice president of cybersecurity solutions and chief information security officer at Augusta University, effective July 1.
In her role, Roszkowski will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that leverages IT risk management and information security practices to protect the confidentiality of Augusta University’s students, patients, faculty, and staff. She will have responsibility for both the university and health system.
“Dr. Roszkowski is a highly respected and nationally known IT security professional, and we are pleased she has agreed to be a part of our institution,” said Dr. Michael Casdorph, vice president of information technology and chief information officer at Augusta University. “She has proven experience in building effective information security initiatives, and her vast knowledge in cybersecurity will be an asset to our university and those we serve.”
Roszkowski previously served as the network chief information security officer for The University of Vermont Health Network, chief information security officer for The University of Vermont Medical Center and the information assurance manager for a division level task force in the United States Army.
After 11 years of service as a Signal Corps Officer, Roszkowski ended her active duty service as a Major and continues to hold that rank in the U.S. Army Individual Ready Reserves.
Roszkowski was appointed to the State of Vermont Governor’s Cybersecurity Advisory Team and is currently a member of several professional organizations, including the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security.
Her awards and accolades include being named an Executive Women’s Forum 2015 Women of Influence finalist, and recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and the Signal Corps Regimental Association’s Bronze Order of Mercury.
Roszkowski earned her doctoral degree in cybersecurity from Capitol Technology University and became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional from (ISC)2, a leading global organization in cybersecurity and IT security training.
